  1. Resolved Question: My dog has a lump on the side of his head, can someone help?
  2. 9 Jun 2008 at 8:24pm
My dog has a lump on the side of his head, it's been there about 2 or 3 years now. a few days ago puss started coming out of it and the skin below it. I keep cleaning it, but it don't seem to help. Do you know what might be wrong? Before it was like a fester or a zit, it would start to get big then all I had to do was squeeze it and little white chunks would come out of it. People around here say it may be cancer, I hope not. I want to take him to the vet but I'm always broke, is there any government plans in canada to help people like me it would be great to learn about it. Also, how much do you think it would cost to get it checked out by a vet, in Fredericton New Brunswick Canada?

Once the Romans had rid themselves of their Etruscan king, they set up this type of government, in which Rome would be ruled by laws and elected officials: Romans built __________ to celebrate their many military victories. 8. 9 Jun 2008 at 7:50pm
Ive been researching this and though Im having difficutly finding sources,it seems as if ,primarily due to evangelical ministries in africa and the middle east, a large number of muslims especially young people are becoming apostates. The sources I find say that the cause of this is because people associate the religion with government corruption and fighting. In africa due to lack of any true islamic influence, the people there have gone astray and have been fighting for ridiculous things. The christian missionaries have gone there and been converting people on the promise of food and aid. Has anyone any information on this topic? In your community /country are there people who are leaving islam? Do you think muslims should become more active/vocal in giving dawah ? Here are some of the sites Ive been looking at.It is the second one that is most disturbing. http://pajamasmedia.com/blog/muslims-leaving-islam-in-droves/ http://www.orthodoxytoday.org/articles6/AlJ That video is horrible!! How can they do that ?! Its not right.... Is there something that we as muslims in the West can do ? I want to do something to stop this

The Energy Department and IBM Corp. announced the breakthrough Monday. The computer will be used to help maintain the nation's nuclear weapons stockpile. Energy Secretary Samuel Bodman says the new computer, named Roadrunner, also will be used to help solve global energy problems and ``open new windows of knowledge' in basic research. The Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico and IBM worked for six years to achieve the world record computer speed.

  11. Resolved Question: US History practice essay question?
  12. 9 Jun 2008 at 7:44pm
Actions taken by the United States government have often been influenced by geographic factors. Some of these factors include location, climate, natural resources, and physical features. Task: Identify two actions taken by the United States government that have been influenced by geographic factors and for each ? State one reason the United States took the action ? Describe how a geographic factor influenced the action ? Discuss the impact of the action on the United States You may use any action taken by the United States government that was influenced by a geographic factor. Some suggestions you might wish to consider include the Lewis and Clark expedition (1804?1806), issuance of the Monroe Doctrine (1823), Mexican War (1846?1848), Commodore Perry?s opening of Japan (1853), passage of the Homestead Act (1862), purchase of Alaska (1867), construction of the Panama Canal (1904?1914), entry into World War II (1941), passage of the Interstate Highway Act (1956), and involvement in Persi I don't have anything so far. I have no idea how geographical features influenced any of these, or how to stretch it into an essay. Please don't make suggestions like that that waste everyone's time, just so you can try to make people believe you know what you're doing.

  13. Resolved Question: Why don't the liberals want to drill for oil?
  14. 9 Jun 2008 at 7:40pm
We have 6 billion barrels worth of oil in ANWR, not to mention North Dakota, and the Gulf of Mexico. Just the oil in ANWR is equivalent to 30 years of importing oil from the mideast. But because liberal environmental extremists are lobbying to our liberal congress, the government won't let oil companies drill. They care more about the pristine environment in ANWR (which happens to be just a frozen tundra). We could've been energy independent by 2005 had Bill Clinton not vetoed the bill which would have allowed for drilling in ANWR. "In 1995, Republicans prepared to take up the battle again and included a provision for ANWR in the federal budget. President Bill Clinton vetoed the entire budget and expressed his intention to veto any other bill that would open ANWR to drilling." -http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arctic_Refuge_drilling_controversy And it's not just a guess honey..."A 1993 United States Geological Survey (USGS) study indicated at least 4.3 billion (95% probability) and possibly as much as 11.8 billion (5% probability) barrels (0.9 to 2.5 km³) of technically recoverable oil exists in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge 1002 area, with a mean value of 7.7 billion barrels (1.7 km³).[3] In addition, in the entire assessment area, which covers not only land under Federal jurisdiction, but also Native lands and adjacent State waters within three miles (5 km), technically recoverable oil is estimated to be at least 5.7 billion (95%) and as much as 16.0 billion (5%) barrels (0.7 to 1.9 km³), with a mean value of 10.4 billion barrels (1.2 km³).[3] Economically recoverable oil within the Federal lands assuming a market price of $40/barrel (constant 1996 dollars - the highest price included in the USGS study) is estimated to be between 3.4 billion (95%) and 10.4 billion (5%). Why don't you read some history?! (Hate Girl) DAZE: I'm not oppossed to alternative energy, but since the price of oil is so high, that will just slow the process of technological and chemical companies in developing an alternative fuel. Right now we are dependent on oil. We can't just cut it off cold turkey. Our economy would collapse. We need to slowly ween off of it, by preserving our economy and using oil to help these companies that can develop the new fuels. actually CHRIS H: The administration of U.S. President George W. Bush pushed to perform exploratory drilling for oil and gas in and around the refuge. The House of Representatives voted in mid-2000 to allow drilling. In April 2002, the Senate rejected it. On December 15, 2005, Sen. Ted Stevens (R-AK) attached an Arctic Refuge drilling amendment to the annual defense appropriations bill. A group of Democratic Senators led a successful filibustering of the bill on December 21, 2005, and the language was subsequently removed from the bill.[11] Why don't you do a little research chief?

  31. Resolved Question: Regarding headscarves (hijab)...?
  32. 9 Jun 2008 at 6:57pm
Many people believe that Muslim women are forced to wear the scarves or are oppressed for doing so and need to be free. While, unfortunately, there are some women who undergo harassment in order to wear the headscarf (or to wear it "properly") it isn't the case with most of the Muslim female population. At the same time, there are those who claim to support freedom of speech and expression that have banned Muslim women from wearing the headscarves and use the claims above to support their move. As well, there are individuals that, although they don't live in such an area that bans the hijab, they are in full support of such a move from their own government. My question is does this make sense to you that in order for everyone to have freedom of religion and speech, certain people can be forced to suppress their freedom of religion and speech? What are your thoughts? Btw: ignorance will be ignored. Be ignorant all you want, but as a forwearning, you're wasting your valuable time Next, I doubt it, lol! I find that odd because even as Muslims we're encouraged to learn from the Bible. Cautiously, as you may have heard we have doubts on its many many versions, but to still learn. Anyways, equality means equality. If hijab is an obligation by the religion, why on earth ban it and call the action justice for freedom of religion? Frou, love your openmindedness. I believe that the niqab (the full veil that covers the face) is an option rather than a requirement, but the women who do wear it take it as sort of an extra step towards modesty and God-consciousness. You can kinda see them as the Nuns of Islam, minus the devotion to the church alone. Habits and robes aren't a requirement in Catholicism or Orthodoxy, but the women who choose to follow that path do it out of deep religious devotion. If that helps you at all. Check out the Ramadan section too, you might come across a few or ask some Q's yourself. Excellent section regarding Islamic beliefs. Cher, lol! It truly is a blessing! :-P Huffy, actually there are many Christian women who cover their hair, even here in the US! They understand our situation better than the average Christian and are like our sisters in the matter! :-P

  35. Resolved Question: I'm an American wanting to move to Sweden, do I need a visa?
  36. 9 Jun 2008 at 6:52pm
I'm an American citizen who would like to move to Sweden for a year or so, do I need a visa to do this? I also read somewhere that if you want to stay there for more than 3 months then you have to prove to the Swedish government that you have enough money to do so, but I don't know how much I'll have if/when I move. I was planning on getting a job while I was there.

  38. 9 Jun 2008 at 6:49pm
Many American and many Mexicans would like to live their lives happily together and enter into the transaction of exchanging labor for money. I'm wondering how hard it is to get the US government to leave one alone in this very human transaction. I'm really wondering if there's a lot of paperwork, a long line, background checks??

  39. Resolved Question: Are people like me going to be doomed to being poor forever?
  40. 9 Jun 2008 at 6:47pm
I never went to college so people somehow think i deserve to be poor! I don't think so. I think the government should help out anyone who's willing to work. I'm doing 2 jobs right now and working odd jobs when i get a chance and I'm only 25. I have no health insurance because i cant be excepted due to my prior conditions. So i would like to at least spend my extra money on booze and cigarettes so i can die happy. But No!!! i have to chose between gas and smokes , and i usually pick smokes! This should be the prime of my life and i don't even get to party or do drugs because i have to work the next day

  45. Resolved Question: Pepper spray might be...?
  46. 9 Jun 2008 at 6:28pm
Should pepper spray be legal? Now, I am very definitely in favor of the Second Amendment; I agree with Thomas Jefferson who said something like "An armed populace is the last defense against tyranny." I was also very much in favor of pepper spray, until someone asked the obvious question that I'd never heard before: What if the attacker has the pepper spray? Sure, you can ask the same questions about guns, but I think that a robber doesn't necessarily want to kill his victim--and won't, unless he thinks he has to. On the other hand, saying "hey mister" and catching the person in the eyes with pepper spray as he turns would be a darn simple way to commit a robbery. At the same time, I think the government shouldn't be the end-all solution to everything (or to anything, really) as they have very very seldom come up with workable solutions. I'm torn. Anyone have any good thoughts on this? (Don't bother to answer unless you're going to TRY to say something intelligent.) ...yes, I know it is legal. Maybe this question should be in ethics or philosophy, but read the whole question again. My question is SHOULD it be legal? Or, how could the situation of a robbery being committed using pepper spray be prevented?

I am writing a paper and I need the direct source. Any help is appreciated Clover, thanks for the quotes but in order for me to use any of them I need a direct source that I may cite. Without a direct source (like a copy of a speech or letter that Twain actually wrote) i cant site them in a paper.

  56. 9 Jun 2008 at 6:11pm
I am trying to do some long term planning as to how much money I need to retire. Some people have told me that Social Security is not taxed. Others have said that a government pension is not taxed. I understand the taxes around 401K's and IRAs. But the tax question around SS and government pensions will make a huge difference in my planning calculations.

  58. 9 Jun 2008 at 6:10pm
I'm a liberal, and i would join the NRA if they were not a right winged organization. I am all for gun rights and own about 15 guns and enough bullets to last the army all year. I don't use weapons to hunt or defend myself though! I only have them in case this becomes a police state, then i will use my right as a citizen to take my government back! If you know what i mean! That means give um more shells than an Italian dinner!

okay so can you tell me what answer you got.In my math class we got a math problem that asks how much it would cost the government to make 50 quarters, if the material cost $1 per 1000mm. in our problem the radius is 12mm and the thickness off the quarter is .5mm. o were suppose to round to one decimal place too so if you fell like answering this please do so , so i can see figure out whos right thank you everyone im still just as confused thou since about half of you said 11.30 (my answer)and the other answer 11.31 (teachers answer), im begining to think it was just something to do with rounding, and also are teacher makes us use 3.14 as pie since everybodys calculators cut of the decimal part in pie at different spots, soo im sorry to change my question a bit but using 3.14 would the answer be 11.30 or 11.31? sorry for changing stuff thanks again.

  63. Resolved Question: i believe gas prices are not based on supply and demand bu...
  64. 9 Jun 2008 at 5:59pm
gas prices go up to protect government power over their citizens, citizens have made too much money over the years from the stock market (nasdaq) and we're feeling the effects of the huge gains we made about 10 years ago, in history when there was a big gain for citizens it was followed by the big loss a short time later (look at the great depression...roaring 20's to the depression 30's followed by war 40's) so in the next 10 years or so we'll be in a BIG war and then we'll be ok for like 20 or 30 years cause the powers that be will make it this way, then we'll go to another junky war like vietnam and then 20 years later things will get crazy again with people making money off of this and that and then it will cycle over and over again......it's all about keeping the powers that be to be as powerful as they be

  69. Resolved Question: Unleaded to compressed natural gas?
  70. 9 Jun 2008 at 5:45pm
Just curious why CNG conversions are not BOOMING at the present? With the unleaded ripoffs at present it seems running CNG is looking like a very valid option??? It is about 2.40/gal equiv in Texas and only .91/gal equiv in OK just across the line. Is now the time??? Conversions with tanks are available for 3-4K so the payback isn't all that long anymore.. Notice, I did not say PROPANE I said CNG which is not a petroleum by product like propane! Natural Gas is available and has a large supply just not many filling stations - (great Government isn't it!) There are a ton of new wells here in DFW area - production couldn't get a better hit than that. There are lots of Cities are running it, many fleets are running it, is it time for us the normal drivers to start running it? Why or why not? Short supply??? Well, I don't see NG as short? In fact the demand is actually on a slight decline per this report. http://www.ngsa.org/facts_studies/EVA_Natural_Gas_Demand_Report_2008.pdf and per this http://www.ngsa.org/newsletter/pdfs/_12_-_Strong_Forecast_for_Natural_Gas.pdf there appears to be Strong Supplies! Since nearly all Natural Gas is produced in the US and Canada it does push off the OPEC countries.

  83. Resolved Question: Am I missing something on the massive oil profits?
  84. 9 Jun 2008 at 5:12pm
You hear conservatives complain that the government is making billions on gas through taxes and the poor oil companies aren't making but a couple of cents on each gallon. That may be correct, but isn't the premise wrong. It's not gas they make big profits on. When the price of raw materials go up, you raise the price to maintain your profits. Oil is going up so the price of gas goes up. But if your profits are rising, doesn't that mean you've raised your price more than the marginal increase in your raw material? The owner of the gas station makes his profit on gas and all the conveniences and he's not seeing much of an increase in profits. But "Big Oil" isn't paying more to get it out of the ground today than they did yesterday. But because people are driving up the price through speculation (more than through demand) they are making record profits. Now I'm not saying they should lower their price of the raw material, oil, but it's easy to see why they have record profits

  85. Resolved Question: "fighting for freedom"?
  86. 9 Jun 2008 at 5:04pm
I just don't understand why it's widely believed and told on the radio, etc, that the fighting American soldiers do overseas is somehow partly intended to "help keep the US free." I agree that we all owe soldiers a ton of gratitude, but I never thought that... if the military activity didn't take place... the US would - puff - stop being free. Doesn't that entail a huge change in the view of the American people for what the government should be, not... the dangers that lie abroad? So... I still think that saying that the soldiers are 'fighting for freedom here' is very misleading.

We live in Indiana. Not even the temp agencies have job openings in our area and we can't move far. We can't get help from the government because we share an apartment with another couple. We have two kids, no car, and we are both trying to better ourselves (my husband is enrolled in a welding class, and I am a full time student). We aren't looking for handouts, just some kind of loan for the unemployed, kind of like a student loan where you can defer payments. Even though I am a full time student, we can't get school loans, because we have no jobs, or not enough time at our residence. We are getting close to the end of our lease and can't renew it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. But please remember we're not looking for hand-outs, just some kind of temporary help.
